STRESS CARE

See stress differently

Did you know that 84% of the world’s population say they are stressed?1 While chronic stress is one of the biggest contributors to life-threatening illnesses – such as diabetes2, heart disease and cancer3 – it’s difficult to take stress seriously when we can’t see the effect it has on our bodies.

Introducing a new way to visualize stress

Stress doesn’t just affect you emotionally, it affects you physically too. That’s why Cigna has partnered with doctors, educators and engineers to create an innovative way to visualize its effects on your body and mind. We believe once you see it differently, you can create a personal PLAN that can help you take control of it. A PLAN stands for Period of time, Location, Activity and Name; it’s a simple stress management tool you can fill in yourself in less than five minutes.

To allow you to see your stress and create your own Stress Care PLAN, our doctors have devised a short test. This test is based on an established industry standard: the Perceived Stress Scale. Take our three-minute test now.

Making the invisible visible

We are all affected by stress in some way, but it can be difficult to confront and take control of it when we can’t see how it is impacting us. What if we could?

We partnered with Digital Artist Sean Sullivan to make the invisible visible, and help show that stress not only has emotional effects on you, but also physical ones.

Using cutting–edge technology, we innovated a way to read and measure stress indicators in the whole body – before visualizing them as striking motion artwork.

The result? A head and torso of color, texture and animation effects driven by stress in an individual’s body and mind – cooler colors and calm textures suggesting lower overall stress levels, and hotter colors with turbulence indicating higher levels.

Encourage a friend, family member, or colleague to recognize, understand and take control of their own stress.
